Executive Board

Gustavo Emina

CEO

President and founder of New Wave, Emina is also a member of the Advisory Board of the Lorinvest Group, which manages the company's assets. With more than 20 years' experience in the mining, foreign trade, logistics and shipbuilding industries, Emina is an entrepreneur by vocation. In 2007, he founded and led the iron processing company New Steel, which was sold to Vale S.A. in 2019. The executive has a doctorate in Political Science from the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore di Milano (Italy) and a specialization in International Relations from the Luiss Guido Carli School of Government - Rome (Italy).

Newton de Souza – General Counsel | Chief Compliance Officer

Legal, Sustainability and Procurement

Souza has more than 30 years of experience leading legal departments of several large companies, in addition to having expertise in Compliance and Corporate Governance, Sustainability, Procurement and Human Resources management. Souza has been a certified advisor by the Brazilian Institute of Corporate Governance (IBGC) since 2009, having served as member and president of the Fiscal Council and the Board of Directors of several companies. The executive also served as a direct and special advisor to the president of the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) from 2019 to 2021. Graduated in Law from the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ), he has a postgraduate degree in Economic Law and Business degree from Fundação Getúlio Vargas (FGV) and MBA in Logistics, Operations and Services from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ).

Luis Bittencourt – CTO

Technology and Innovation

Bittencourt has 37 years' experience in the mining, mineral processing and refractory industries. Beginning his professional career as a research engineer at Magnesita Refractories in Brazil in 1986, he has enjoyed rapid growth within the company. After managing different areas, such as R&D, Marketing and Operations, he worked his way up to Vice President of Technical and Raw Materials before becoming President. Following the merger between RHI and Magnesita Refratários in 2017, Bittencourt became CTO of RHIMagnesita, the world's largest refractories company. Bittencourt holds a Ph.D. in Materials Science Engineering from the Missouri Institute of Science and Technology, 1996; an M.Sc. in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Utah, 1989; and a B.Sc. in Mining Engineering from the Federal University of Minas Gerais, 1986.

Joaquim Rocha – CHRO

People & Culture and Communication

With a career spanning more than 30 years, Joaquim Rocha has held executive/C-Level positions in multinationals in various industry segments, such as: General Electric, Xerox do Brasil, The Coca-Cola Company, TV Globo, Braspelco Indústrias, Tata Consultancy Services and Aché Laboratórios Farmacêuticos, BBM Logística, Grupo Lorinvest, among others. With experience in global projects in the areas of Human Resources, Communication, Corporate Governance and Sustainability, he was also a member of Sindusfarma's Board of Directors/Fiscal Council. She has a degree in Information Systems; an Executive MBA in Human Resources Management and an Executive MBA in Marketing and Business from PUC/RJ; international certification in Corporate Mediation and Personal Mentoring; certification in Executive Coaching from Coach U Inc. in the USA. He has taught Executive MBA and Governance courses at FGV/SP and PUC/RJ and now teaches at the IBGC (Brazilian Institute of Corporate Governance) for the Directors Training Program, focusing on Corporate Governance.

Sérgio Pedreiro – CFO

Finance and Administration

Pedreiro was Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Revlon and has more than 20 years' experience in international finance and business administration. From 2014 to 2018, Pedreiro was a partner at BTG Pactual in the Private Equity group. Before joining BTG, he served from 2009 to 2014 as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Coty, a global beauty company based in New York, leading the company's IPO on the NYSE in mid-2013. From 2002 to 2008, Pedreiro was CFO of América Latina Logística SA, listed on the Brazilian stock exchange (B3). From 2015 to 2019, he served as CEO of Estre Ambiental SA, one of the leading companies in the waste management sector in Brazil. Pedreiro began his career as a business consultant at McKinsey & Company in Brazil, having previously worked as an intern at Goldman Sachs in New York. He has a degree in Aeronautical Engineering from ITA - Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica with honors (1988) and an MBA from Stanford University (1996).

Marcus Berto – CCO

Commercial

Advisor to several companies, with over 25 years of experience in global operations, having held various leadership positions. He served as CEO of Prumo Global Logistics SA in Brazil; Senior Executive Vice President at Bucyrus International, overseeing the Southern Hemisphere region; and Vice President of Corporate Development at a Canadian mining company. Additionally, he spent twelve years at PriceWaterhouseCoopers LLP and Arthur Andersen, and has been involved in numerous IPOs in the US. He holds a degree in Accounting from Pontifical Catholic University (Belo Horizonte - Minas Gerais, Brazil), an MBA, and completed the Advanced Management Program (AMP-181) at Harvard University in 2011.

Luciano Puccini Medeiros

Advisor

Luciano Medeiros has been CEO of Lorinvest (New Wave's management company) since 2011. Before that, he was a partner at the law firm Barbosa, Müssnich & Aragão (BMA Law) for 11 years, where he led the M&A and capital markets group. Graduated in Law from the Cândido Mendes University Law School, he worked from 1992 to 1999 at Banco Pactual, one of Brazil's leading investment banks.

Leonardo Szczberg

Advisor

Szczberg has worked at Lorinvest (New Wave's management company) since 2011, as executive director in charge of Treasury. Between 2015 and 2019, he also served as CFO of New Steel, an investee of the Lorentzen Group. He has 20 years' experience in finance, having worked for large companies such as Banco BBM (desk analyst), Rede Globo (budget analyst) and Telos (Embratel's pension fund, as investment coordinator). B.A. in Economics (IBMEC), MBA in Finance (FGV and IBMEC) and Executive Development Program at Wharton Business School (USA).
